Land Day

An annual commemoration by Israel's Arab population of the killing on 30 March 1976 of six demonstrators who had been protesting the confiscation of Arab land in Galilee. Though historically restricted to peaceful marches, Land Day in recent years has been characterized by violent demonstrations by segments of the Arab community.
